Word Service

Service List

Many organizations miss out on editorial opportunities because technical staff do not have the time or expertise to write technical articles.   And yet there is generally little or no charge made by magazines for 2-3 page feature articles.

Word Service will liaise with Editors to find out their requirements, talk to clients’ technical personnel, carry out any additional research and prepare a draft article to be amended and approved by the client before submission.

If necessary we will negotiate with Editors to place articles with appropriate magazines.

Technical Articles

Many technical magazines welcome application stories that show how a company’s products are used in practice.  These can be supplied to Editors as ‘exclusive’ stories or sent as general press releases to several titles.   Case studies can also be used in your own sales presentations.

Word Service will visit site and talk to engineers, prepare a draft case study, take in amendments from the client and his client, obtain the necessary approvals, and submit to the appropriate magazines.

We can take our own photographs on site.

Case Studies

It is important that new products are mentioned in the trade and technical press.  This is the most effective way of achieving regular press coverage.

Word Service will prepare and agree suitable press releases, in a format that will be acceptable to the magazine.  These will be sent to the editors by post and email as appropriate.

We can also handle requests from the Editors for colour separation/service charges, making recommendations to the client and handling payments etc. on his behalf.

New Product Releases

Regular favourable coverage in the editorial pages of magazines keeps your company name in people’s minds, reassures your customers, and supports advertising programmes.  A regular flow of press releases across Editors’ desks (or email) also keeps your company name in their minds.

Apart from New Product Releases and Case Studies, mentioned above, suitable subjects for press release include significant appointments, new trade literature, major contracts, commercial developments, industry awards, promotions etc.

Other Press Releases

Full Public Relations Programme

Word Service offers a full technical public relations service including all the elements described above, and more.  This is normally offered on a monthly or quarterly retainer basis.

We will send out regular press releases, look for opportunities to place feature articles in the press, handle press enquiries on behalf of the client, monitor responses and provide a press-cutting service.  We will also provide exhibition support and generally ensure that the client is represented regularly in a positive light in the trade press.

Catalogues and Brochures

Word Service can also help with other editorial requirements which so often get delayed because the relevant people do not have the time to devote to them.   This will include the preparation of company brochures and catalogues.

Even if other people prepare the basic material, we can edit the raw copy and suggest improvements.  Or we can provide a proof reading service to help pick up grammatical or other errors that so easily slip through the net.
